Long Beach Pride Parade and Festival
Rainbow flags are already lining the streets of Long Beach in anticipation of this beloved weekend celebration: It's time for Long Beach Pride! Sunday morning, folks of all ages gather along Ocean Ave. for the sparkliest, most enthusiastic and completely fabulous parade of the year, featuring bedazzled floats, drag queen trekking it in stilettos, marching bands, and PFLG members waving flags with loving sayings that make us tear up every single time. After the parade, everyone flocks to Shoreline Dr. for live music from dozens of acts including country, hip-hop, salsa, electro, and more. Lesbian, gay, straight, bisexual, asexual, transgender, somewhere in between—everyone is invited! www.longbeachpride.com. See website for complete details. Parade is free; festival is $20.
Sat., May 17, noon; Sun., May 18, 10:30 a.m., 2014
