Long Beach Pride Parade
Gay, straight or somewhere in the middle? It doesnt matter; all are welcome to take part in the 27th Annual Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Festival and Parade this weekend. Boasting the distinction of being one of the largest pride events nationwide (with attendance in previous years reaching into the tens of thousands), the festival will feature seven (!) dance areas, many high-energy live musical performances, and, of course, the pride parade marching down Ocean Blvd., all with the purpose of increasing gay and lesbian awareness and pride, as well as self-worth within the community. Think this all sounds pretty gay? It is. It most wonderfully is. Long Beach Pride Festival along Shorline Dr.; Parade starts at Bixby Park, Cherry Ave. and Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, (562) 987-9191; www.longbeachpride.com. 10:30 a.m. $20 for Festival; Free for Parade. All ages.
