Long Beach Bayou Blues Festival Day 2

While we can't afford the airfare to make it to New Orleans this summer, the Long Beach Bayou Festival swings back around for its 28th year to give us a taste of the Big Easy. This two-day celebration of all things bayou and blues is one of the highlights of the summer festival season—and this year features music headliner Otis Taylor on Sunday, topping off more live music than we have room to mention. There are also Zydeco and Step dance lessons (so you can look like you know what your doing on the dancefloor), and tons of Cajun and Creole cuisine to try. And don't be surprised when a parade breaks out—mini Mardi Gras parades can troop through the fest at any given time, flinging colored beads and pumping parasols in the air. But if you enter the crawfish-eating competition, be advised: there are some serious contenders here to mow down piles of those tasty red bugs.
