Lisa Loeb

Today’s bespectacled hipster chick owes a debt of gratitude to a certain shining beacon of ‘90s alterna-rock. Lisa Loeb empowered a generation of sensitive and awkward nerdy girls with something to get off their chests and just be themselves. And she did it without the strident pretention found in much of Alanis Morissette’s work. Best known for her 1994 single “Stay (I Missed You),” Loeb achieved radio ubiquity after Ben Stiller used the song in the closing credits of his film Reality Bites . Loeb persevered beyond the Gen-X decade starring in a culinary reality show with former boyfriend Dweezil Zappa and recently lent her name to a collection of eyewear. This week, she brings her nerdy charms to the Coach House.
