Krum Bums

Austin’s Krum Bums do it all—snarling high-speed Filth-meets-Discharge nihilcore, raging oi!-influenced sing-alongs, Negative Approach-style smashing hardcore that leaves deep steaming footprints behind it . . . all right, so that “all” doesn’t actually include finger-picked nylon guitar or abstract electronic beats, but if it sounds angry and looks spiky and put out vinyl between 1977 and 1985, the Krum Bums dug out the good parts and used them to build a ferocious punk band of their own. They’re a good match for Citizen Fish, who share a core with the Subhumans and put punk backbone under stripped-down ska riffs. Versatility under fire—that’s what we’re talking about here.
