I Hate You Just Kidding

We’re not sure if there’s a genre sweet enough to describe the music of headliners I Hate You, Just Kidding. Sure, words like “folk” and “indie” might come to mind, but the effervescent lyrics and ukulele plucks of Jeremy Brock and Jessi Fulghum are the aural equivalent to high fructose corn syrup—songs about birds, bees, hamburgers and naps abound. And even though a soft, sentimental sound like this runs the risk of being crushed underfoot by the louder bands around them, their profile continues floating to higher plateaus. This summer, the band is poised to present a new EP filled with coy, cavity-inducing creativity. Catch them at Proof this weekend with Matt Kollar and the Angry Mob along with Tall Tails and the Silver Lining and the Tails.
