In Laura Hillman's autobiography, I Will Plant You a Lilac Tree: A Memoir of a Schindler`s List Survivor, the author recounts her harrowing march through eight concentration camps—beginning with her decision to leave school to be with her family through the terror of it all. But even in the darkest of times, one can find a shimmer of hope—amidst starvation and torture, Laura fell in love with a Polish POW. Even more unbelievable, both were added to Oskar Schindler's list of eleven hundred Jews to be saved—but it wasn't the end of their nightmarish journey. In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Laura Hillman makes a visit to Bowers Museum to discuss her remarkable life.
