H.M.S. Pinafore

The New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players present the famous Brit duo’s first international hit, also known as The Lass that Loved a Sailor . Set on the high seas aboard the H.M.S. Pinafore, the comic opera centers on the love between an upper-class captain’s daughter and a lower-class sailor (with her already promised to an affluent admiral), and upturns both the British social class system and patriotic party politics with wit and silliness. It’s the precursor to The Pirates of Penzance , to boot, and therefore a must-see for musical theatre aficionados and those who like their men wrapped in tight pants.
