Hey, Hey It's…

Always known as the prettiest face of the Monkees—the one that made Marcia Brady and other teenaged girls swoon—Davy Jones and his bandmates battled critics to win recognition for their music, but fans couldn’t have cared less who wrote, played or sang Monkees songs. In fact, the boys did write some of their material (as much as most commercial pop/rock acts did) and all of them were proficient musicians. They each went on to other musical projects post-tube-stardom, and Davy Jones in particular kept churning out singles until the late ‘80s. Then came Jones’ good-humored performance in 1995’s Brady Bunch Movie in which he grunged up “Girl,” and got all those baby boomer gals screamin’ again. Now it’s your turn.
