Green Scene: Plant and Garden Show

Whether you maintain a Victory Garden, drip-irrigated exotic botanical showpiece, or just a few cooking herbs growing on the window sill, you, child of God, are a grower. And you'll find something to admire, learn about, or be in awe of at the annual plant and garden show at the county’s biggest botanical gardens, the 26-acre Fullerton Arboretum, with its self-contained deserts, woodlands, and rare fruit grove. This weekend, a hundred vendors display their bulbs, succulents, varietal plants, garden art and tools on the grounds adjacent Cal State Fullerton. There are talks and demonstrations, plus a mini farmers market for those who’d rather just eat. Local groups show off their “We CAN Garden”-theme projects like decorated galvanized trash cans which work as bountiful vertical plots, flames pinstriped on the converted planter full of jalapeños. Life is for learning—and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden.
