Great Googly Mowgli!

All right. So Rudyard Kipling's known as the bard of English imperialism. And his grand pose makes us politically correct 21st-century dwellers wince and balk at what many now interpret as militarism and prejudice (see poems “The White Man's Burden,” “Gunga Din,” “A Song of the White Men,” et al.). But what about all the nice moral and motivational stories from The Jungle Book (that was actually read by Cub Scouts as a mode of inspiration) featuring all sorts of cute animals such as Rikki-Tikki-Tavi? Remember feral child Mowgli and Bagheera the black panther and-best of all-Baloo the bear? Let's just stick with the happy thoughts, people-besides, imperialism is totally a thing of yesteryear, right?
