'Gothic'

What exactly is Gothic? Is it metal lunch pales, too much eyeliner and romantic fantasies involving vampires? Not really. The Orange County Center for Contemporary Art is fixing to look beyond the cliches at this counterculture rich in literary and visual flourishes. Curated by Assistant Professor of Art History for Ivine Valley College Amy V. Grimm, the art exhibit takes a gander at “the human desire to experience pleasurable fear.” Selected works include “Explaining Death to a Rabbit,” which, inspired by the 1972 fantasy novel Watership Down, features a victorian woman covered in a pile of clearly uncomfortable bunnies. Looks disturbing to us. If this show doesn't succeed in its mission, stick around for the Soho Taco Truck. They're disturbingly delicious.
