Flashdance

For some, the word “flashdance” conjures images of men in trench coats gyrating their pelvises and opening their coats to unsuspecting women on the streets (what a feeling!). In this case, however, it stands for the story of a young welder who just wants to dance (she’s a maniac on the floor!). The 1983 film Flashdance made a huge impression on pop culture and became a classic adored by women and welders the world over. So great was the story’s impact on society, that it was decided to turn the movie into a theatrical musical to titillate audiences all over again. Cut up a sweat shirt, tease that hair and dump some water on yourself in preparation for Flashdance the Musical at Segerstrom Center.
