Fallen Angels

When award-winning playwright, composer and actor Noël Coward (that's Sir Noël Peirce Coward, actually) debuted his witty comedy Fallen Angels to London audiences back in 1925, it was the perfect recipe for theatrical success: one part high society, one part bff-for-life friendship and one part juicy scandal. Julia and Jane are best friends—now, in middle age, they are both in happy, though somewhat passionless marriages. But before they got hitched, each lady had a hot fling with Frenchman Maurice—who is back in town and wants to see the girls, on a day when their husbands are away playing golf. What's a woman to do? Get drunk on champagne, of course. Fallen Angels was called the buddy comedy that opened the door for duos such as Lucy and Ethel, and Laverne and Shirley—but with this much champagne-swilling and man-sharing, we think it's a little more Carrie and Miranda.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 11. Continues through Nov. 3, 2013
