Eight Days

Thurs/Sept 15
Did you know my brother's brother is the bassist for Flogging Molly? Yeah, it's a family affair, sort of, and now they're pretty much the world's most famous Irish band, if you only count the Irish bands with teeth. How does that happen? I used to go see them at Molly Malone's all the time, up on Fairfax, and now everyone wants a piece of them. I blame the Warped Tour. With Danko Jones and the Policey Maxeen. 8 p.m. $21. 21+. Mouse House of Blues,1530 S. Disneyland Dr., Anaheim, (714) 778-2583.

Fri
Yes, I know I usually recommend each and every iota of '70s crap that comes our way, and yes, I know the Eagles are playing, but I just don't love them like I used to in junior high, and it's for one reason and one reason only: Don Henley is a lechy old sow, and I find him ill. Instead, I think you should take your kids on a Harvest Full Moon Walk. How sweet and lovely is that? Reservations required. 6-7:30 p.m. $3. Recommended for families with children ages 8 and older. Environmental Nature Center, 1601 16th St., Newport Beach, (949) 645-8489.

The Orange County Museum of Art goes off with like 20 different events, including the Short Film Showcase (8:30 p.m.); a special screening of the PBS series Art: 21-Art in the Twenty-First Century, followed by a discussion with Jessica Hamlin, director of education and outreach for Art: 21(5-7 p.m.); and a discussion with Jason Dodge in the installation gallery (6:30 p.m.). Okay. Maybe it's just three events. It seemed like a lot more in the press release. Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Dr., Newport Beach, (949) 759-1122; www.ocma.net.
