E Hula Mau Polynesian Festival

If all you know about Hawaiian culture comes from honeymoon stories from Great Uncle Fred—the one with the saggy earlobes—then some serious schooling is in order. You might even be familiar with Hawaii’s most famous musician, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, and his beautiful voice or that Spam is a delicacy in the Aloha State. But SoCal, it’s time we get to know our neighbor state a little bit better, and there is no better place than the 17th Annual E Hula Mau Polynesian Festival at the Terrace Theater. E Hula Mau (“the Hula lives”) is an annual hula and chant competition filled with traditional dances, ukulele playing, and fierce chanting rivalries. Plus, there's arts and crafts, lei making, and delicious food, all in the hope of passing on Hawaiian culture for years to come.
