Deep Purple

Heavy rock innovators Deep Purple, once heralded as part of the “unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal” along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, refuse to give up on a good thing, as evidenced by their tireless touring and tonight's concert at the Pacific Amphitheater, co-headlined with Blue Oyster Cult. This is a concert to take your parents to—hear some of the greatest songs of the early '70s like “Smoke on the Water,” “Woman From Tokyo” and “Highway Star” live and at full volume. Deep Purple once rocked so hard, they were named the globe's loudest band in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1975—let's see if they can still put on an epic show some 40 years later (we bet they can).
