David Sedaris

It all began when NPR's Ira Glass asked a struggling writer to read one of his stories on air. After that moment, as David Sedaris says, "It was like somebody came along with a wand and said, 'Here you go, here's everything you ever wanted.'" Almost overnight, Sedaris went from part-time Macy's Christmas elf to acclaimed, cult-obsessed celebrity author. And with nine million books sold and the common declaration as the funniest writer alive, Sedaris loves the attention. "What part of people standing in line for 10 hours to say how much you they love you, is bad?" he asks. Purchase tickets for his reading at the Barclay Theatre now (if you haven't already), because with literary fans this crazed, Sedaris's show is in high danger of selling out.
