Ladies and gentlemen, start your smokers! The largest BBQ competition on the West Coast, the Dana Point State BBQ Championship features more than 100 meat-cookin' teams from all across California and our adjoining states, battling it out in an epic crusade to win best chicken, ribs, brisket or pork. Bets of all, you can reap the benefits—BBQ samplings are just two bucks each, and the proceeds benefit Dana Point Veterans of Foreign Wars. Should you get thirsty, fear not—this wouldn't be a proper BBQ festival without some cold beer. Nearly twenty different brews are on hand for purchase, as well beer samplings available in the Beer Garden area (a portion of beer proceeds benefit Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group). There's also vendors, plenty of live music, and activities for the kiddos. Better bring your appetite.
