In the 1970s, network television was all about variety shows and guest stars—the more names you could pack into a one-hour episode of The Love Boat, evening of Circus of the Stars, or multiple skits on the Carol Burnett and Sonny and Cher shows, the better your ratings. Spanish flamenco guitarist/singer Charo fit the groovy-sexy bill to a T during the disco days, popping up on the small screen almost weekly to purr, gyrate and leave a gaggle of wagging tongues in her wake.
