Capitol Steps

Sometimes it’s just too easy: politick (verb; to engage in or discuss politics), from “poli” in Latin meaning “many,” and tick, denoting a bloodsucking creature. Expect a zillion more zingers this election year. Prime exponents of the art are the members of Capitol Steps, DC’s funniest political satirists, a loose confederation of current and former congressional staffers. For 30 years, their up-to-the-minute musical parodies have put the mock in democracy, skewering both sides of the aisle, while leaving the audience rolling in it, laughing. Albums include Fools On the Hill and Liberal Shop of Horrors. They obviously subscribe to the theory that politicians and diapers have one thing in common—they should be changed regularly, and for the same reason.
