Built to Spill
The elder statesmen of indie rock are coming through town again—hipsters, prepare to be dazzled by heart-melting songs about the weather. Though Boise's Built to Spill may be responsible for irritating trends in modern music such as lyrical material rife with uber-precious sentiment, at least they were doing it decades before v-neck wearing douchebags were shitting in their American Apparel leggings. And Built to Spill's always done it their way—seven albums featuring jamtastic guitar interludes accompanied by singer Doug Martsch's Neil Young-esque warble. Sentimental never sounded so genuine.
