Started by a group of friends, Broken Bulb Theatre Experiment is the crafty, DIY theater company we've been dreaming of. Their inaugural work, Blackout!, debuts at the Stage Door Repertory Theatre this weekend and promises “a wild night filled with awesome.” When the power goes out, all sorts of craziness ensues, like electrocutions, mental breakdowns, and dance numbers. They hint there might even be some boobs. (This is full of adult content, so leave the kids at home.) Funded on Kickstarter, Broken Bulb Theatre Experiment generated such interest in the theater community that they doubled their initial goal—so expect double the laughs. To get a sense of the troop's talents, catch their Kickstarter pitch video—and if you don't laugh out loud at least twice, then there's a gaping hole of filth where your heart should be.
