Bread and Tulips

Bored and underappreciated housewife Rosalba (a spot-on Licia Maglietta) finds herself unexpectedly left behind during a dull family vacation. (That was on a bus. To look at ruins.) Although her cheating husband tells her to stay put, Rosalba instead sets off on her own and impulsively hitchhikes to Venice. From here is where her real life seems to begin; the film follows her through a series of quirky-character meetings and sticky situations, ultimately falling in love and learning an invaluable lesson about self-discovery. Bowers Museum is offering a special screening of the award-winning Italian romantic comedy (official selection of both the Cannes Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival), with a reception beforehand.
