Belly Laughs

It’s not easy being a portly entertainer in America. With the accessibility of modern medical marvels, even the jolliest of the jolly are undergoing a little sewing, stapling and restuffing. But for Boston-bred comedian John Pinette, food is his muse. Pinette has been toiling the comedy scene since the ’80s, including a pivotal appearance in the Seinfeld finale, and on Broadway fulfilling every kitschy cross-dresser’s dream as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray. But now he’s back in Irvine and ready for laughs. Just don’t get between the man and his prey.
