And the Ship Sails On

The Long Beach Opera’s new film series, “LBOpera Cinema,” which debuted this past May, is going full-steam ahead this month with one of the most stylish, quirky and imaginative fables ever filmed by auteur Federico Fellini. Set on a luxury liner on the eve of World War I, this somber yet joyous tale is about a recently deceased, world-renowned diva and the motley crew of artists, royals and aristocrats who have come to scatter her ashes at sea. The event will feature a pre-show lecture by the opera’s artistic and general director Andreas Mitisek—so lovers of art, opera and Fellini now have the perfect way to spend their post-Christmas Sunday morning.
