A Day Without a Mexican

Political cartoons have been savaging illegal Mexican immigration since at least the early 20th century—but it's a wonder some form of entertainment didn't come along sooner to spoof this great nation's dependance on “illicit” human infiltration. Enter the 2004 film A Day Without a Mexican. Directed by Sergio Arau, this flick dares to ask the question: What would happen to WASPy Californians if Latinos were suddenly raptured? Watch the comedy unfurl as clueless privileged people try to manage mundane tasks usually handled by a crack force of illegals—who often go unnoticed by those who benefit from them the most. Stay after the film for a Q&A session with filmmakers Arau and Yareli Arizmendi.
