A Christmas Carol

No one does the curmudgeonly, crotchety, anti-Christmas Ebenezer Scrooge character better than Hal Landon, Jr. (Except for maybe Bill Murray.) Back now for his 33rd consecutive year playing the lead role, Landon dons that black top hat and pompous sneer like Charles Dickens wrote the part especially with him in mind. One of our favorite Christmas Eve traditions (besides the annual Tuaca drinking contest), seeing A Christmas Carol at the South Coast Repertory with family and friends only gets sweeter year after year. And with well more than a thousand performances of this holiday classic (adapted for the stage by Jerry patch) since the original run in 1980, SCR sure knows how to do Dickens right.
Tuesdays-Sundays; Mon., Dec. 24. Starts: Nov. 24. Continues through Dec. 24, 2012
