Tapestry, a Unitarian Universalist Congregation
Mission Viejo, CA 92691
Hidden within the bowels of Mission Viejo business-park hell is this slice of progressive heaven. But Tapestry is more than just about multiculti buffets after its hippy-dippy services. [Editor's note: Sorry, that's the Catholic in me.] Members can be found on the front lines of most of OC's good fights, from environmental battles to protecting the region's undocumented to smoking out corruption in various South County city halls. And rather than subject congregants to the same tired liberal voices, Tapestry hosts a lively weekly lecture series that finds everyone from authors to local heretics (our own Gustavo Arellano) lecturing on everything from fair food to fair wages for all. Jesus—and Mohammed, Buddha, even Xenu—would approve.
