Best Bike Trip - 2013
Newport Back Bay Loop
Oh, Newport Back Bay Loop. The trail branches off from Harvard Avenue's separate bikeway and loops completely around the Back Bay. The majority of the 10.5-mile loop is an easy ride protected from traffic and flanked by salt-tinged ocean waters and refreshing sea breezes. It can be done in one go, or with multiple rounds along several vistas and educational centers. Cyclists looking for a longer ride can even add a chunk of the Mountain to Sea trail, which stretches all the way to Tustin, or hop a Balboa Island ferry and head to the peninsula.
