Vera Jimenez

For regular viewers of the evening news in Southern California, Vera Jimenez has become a household name over the years. Even so, few know the KTLA-TV Channel 5 meteorologist actually hails from OC! Jimenez was born in Mexico, but while she was at a young age, her family immigrated to Garden Grove . She graduated from Bolsa Grande High School and stayed local for her higher ed by enrolling in Santa Ana College's excellent broadcast-journalism program. Soon after, the spicy señorita began reporting on SigAlerts and clear lanes for AM/FM radio stations before moving on to standing in front of green screens on TV. In 2009, she finished studying meteorology and became a weathercaster extraordinaire, but she still holds true to her traffic-reporting roots by giving commuters the good, bad and the ugly of Southern California's hopeless rat race. For that, Jimenez's trophy case includes Emmys, Golden Mikes, Golden Pythons—and now, most important, this distinction in our infernal rag.
