Wahoo's Fish Tacos at Bristol and Baker streets, Costa Mesa

Wahoo's needs no introduction, of course, but earlier this summer, for no reason and with no hullaballoo, the Lam brothers commissioned a mural outside the Costa Mesa location off Bristol Street. Painted by underground faves Bigfoot, Jason Maloney and Bwana, it's a whimsical underwater panorama, with smiling sea serpents, angel teddy bears and other random happy monsters taking up the entire back of the building. Facing Baker Street, the mural is painted in searing colors that will blind you if you stare too long, but it beautifully serves its purpose of bringing joy to your coming drudge up Interstate 405. Hopefully, the Lams don't stop there and will add more much-needed color to OC's non-Mexican restaurant scene.
