Best Karaoke Spot - 2011
It calls itself a steakhouse/bar/saloon/live venue, but that's probably just to keep Long Beach's best-kept secret—the Prospector's twice-a-week karaoke nights. Every Wednesday and Friday, regulars make the pilgrimage to this broken-in cowboy boot of a tavern to sing classics and deep cuts alike, making a night out feel like a family affair (amp up your performance level, and the whole room cheers with you). There are the karaoke-night staples ("Total Eclipse of the Heart," of course), if crusty songs get you off, but if you want to sing Aladdin's "A Whole New World," you will find a willing duet partner in the crowd. And yes, Frank Zappa's "Dinah Moe Hum" is available.
