Comments (0) Best Downhill Skater - 2011

Wyatt Gibbs

Saving downhill skateboarding in Laguna Beach has become this young gun's cause. He skates every day wherever he goes, sticking to the safety rules of the downhill sport in an attempt to set a good example for other local athletes, as well as to prevent haters from persuading the Laguna Beach City Council to ban it from the town. But what really makes this 14-year-old kid stand out are his performances at local, national and international skateboarding championships (such as the Britannia Classic in Canada), which have earned him 14 sponsorships from companies including ABEC 11, ADX Apparel, XS Energy Drink, Jet and Edge Boardshop. He even cofounded a skating team called Laguna Beach Alpha Groms that meets at his house to practice and embrace downhill skateboarding—while it's still legal.
