If you've ever had the displeasure of getting stuck on the ride and subsequently having the unfortunate opportunity of seeing the Space Mountain track in the light, we offer our condolences. It does kind of ruin the mystery when you get a glimpse behind the proverbial curtain and see it's just a dinky, outdated, steel coaster. But in a way, that should make you appreciate the Disney magic all the more. With its dark, cool environment and stars and planets whizzing by you, you have nowhere to look when the fast coaster whips you around the track. The best part? No matter how many times you've been on the thing, the small dips and twists still catch you off-guard. Why? Because it's dark! So simple and so brilliant. Don't forget to smile for the camera at the end!
