Hot-dog vendors have been outlawed in LA. A shame for them, but lucky us: We still have one in Ken Morrone. But to call him a hot-dog vendor would be insulting. He pushes no cart. His preferred cooking apparatus is a full-on gas grill, which he sets up in front of the REI in Santa Ana for his weekend backyard barbecue. He grills fennel-flavored Italian sausages and snappy-skinned bratwurst. If you insist on a nickname, refer to him as the Dogfudda. He likes that.
