Back Bay Bistro
1131 Back Bay Drive
Newport Beach, CA 92660
949-729-1144
This excellent restaurant—surprisingly so, as it's tucked in a hidden corner of an RV park—recently graduated from Back Bay Cafe to Back Bay Bistro. It's undergone a stunning transformation worthy of its winning beach-grill cuisine, which ranges from burgers and sandwiches to stuffed salmon and prime rib, all served with panache. But on a bright, sunny day, you'll want to sit outside, take a snort of the salty sea air and chill to the intoxicating view of the adjacent marina. An added bonus is watching inlanders struggle to get their boats on and off their trailers at the nearby launch ramp. Being within the Newport Dunes "upscale" RV park and out of view from Jamboree Road or PCH means most newcomers don't know the bistro exists. Find it, especially at happy hour.
