Best Upscale Bar Attached to a Bowling Alley

Sometimes, the beaten path is just what a good drunk needs. And the Concourse Entertainment Center is as close to the path as you can get. Located directly off the 91 freeway in Anaheim, the 40-lane bowling cathedral features a raised-concrete-and-polished-steel space known as Kingpin's Bar and Grill, which specializes in helping the middle class forget their workweek in style. The Concourse offers all the comforts of the 21st century while sporting the aesthetic of a C+C Music Factory video: state-of-the-art sound system, plush velvet couches, pool tables and pretty cocktail waitresses. Friday and Saturday nights bring cosmic bowling to the lanes, as well as a bevy of beautiful people. All of that should be enticement enough, but let's not forget the real reason we play this sport: the booze. A grade above what one might find at many alleys, Kingpin's offers a nice selection of beers on tap, including Chock Top (great with orange juice), Pyramid Hefeweizen, Michelob Amber Bock and a nice little Pacific Island lager known as Long Board. Check out the happy hour, at which you can get draft beers for $2, well drinks for $3.50 and call drinks for a buck more. It has a nice little arsenal of liquor that caters to the woman of taste—that's right, ladies, you can get a chocolate martini; a fruity “Scooby Snack”; or an alcoholic concoction of the Concourse's design known as a “Snapple,” which features rum, pineapple juice and Midori liqueur. Sweet! So, drink up, girls. What's that you say? The chocolate martini's for your boyfriend? Oops. Cheers!
