Ah, the good old days when OC Weekly‘s former owner figured there was no point in renewing our office lease and gave us two weeks to clean out our desks before telling us all to work from home. It was a golden age of avoiding freeway traffic except for once a week, when we’d gather at the Red Room at Chapter One in SanTana for our news meetings. On such occasions, early-bird Weeklings could be found across the street at C4, picking up sandwich—for one staffer, it was almost always the BELT (bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato) on squaw bread—and maybe enjoying a pint of beer during the wait. The impressive lunch menu (salads, burgers, and hot and cold sandwiches), complete with nifty sides such as marinated hardboiled eggs, seems almost custom-made to go down with beer, which is why C4 happens to have one of the best take-home craft-ale sections in the county.
