If you're lucky enough to sample a fine goat stew in your lifetime, you're luckier if you get to sample it from a big steaming dish of birria, piled high with cilantro and onions and made tangy with just the right amount of lime. Second best is a meaty birria taco, also piled high with cilantro, onions and lime. The soft, shredded meat in the birria taco from Hot Taco, which lately stations itself on the corner of 15th and Sycamore streets in Santa Ana, is a wonderful complement to its stewed cousin if you're in a hurry.
