Best Bar in Long Beach

With the possible exception of DiPiazza’s, there is no better place in Long Beach to get hammered while your eardrums burst from the amplified dissonance of your favorite local punk rock bands. Founded at the turn of the 21st century by Long Beach resident Alex Hernandez, the bar benefited from the closure of the Foothill and quickly became the go-to spot for punk shows, even drawing the attention of Hollywood; HBO’s True Blood, perhaps lured by the blood-red curtains adorning the walls, transformed the bar into Fangtasia. Seventeen years on, it’s still going strong, with weekly trivia and karaoke nights, plus a regular rotation of great up-and-coming SoCal bands.
