Yer Art

We all know John Lennon the musician and peace-maker, but John Lennon the artist is a man with whom not many of us have had the pleasure of becoming acquainted. Luckily, the Pacific Edge Gallery will have 120 pieces of Lennon's original artwork on display this weekend. The pieces consist of handwritten lyrics and simple pencil-and-ink drawings, many of which depict John and Yoko Ono at their wedding or on their honeymoon. When these images were originally released in 1969, many were confiscated and deemed obscene by officials in foreign countries due to the often-nude content, and some were destroyed by mishandling. Thus, John was discouraged from showing his artwork in public for many years after. So stop by, take a look at some images of love, read some peaceful words and introduce yourself. Who knows-you may even like John enough to bring a bit of him home with you, as some of the works on display are also for sale.
