Thar He Blows

Cuban trumpet virtuoso Arturo Sandoval came to prominence in America more than 30 years ago with Irakere. Since then, he has defined himself as the heir to Gillespie's throne with a machine-gun blast that can climb so high only dogs and newborns can detect its existence. His fiery bop-driven jaunts swirl effortlessly at breakneck speeds while still remaining articulate and inventive, leaving even the audience exhausted. For this show, Sandoval will be bringing his brand of Cuban jazz perfected on last year's Rumba Palace . Now an elder statesman in the jazz world, Sandoval has opened his own club in Miami and was even the subject of an HBO movie. Who wouldn't let Andy Garcia re-create the most challenging moments of one's life?
