While most rock musicals tend to blow (like that upcoming atrocious film adaptation starring Tom Cruise), this however, is a musical about rock. Totally different. Ambitious singer/songwriter Monica falls for drunk agoraphobic musician Ian in late '70s Glasgow. Together, they take on the world and test the breaking point of their relationship. Will love conquer fame? Yes, we all know that story, but what this Off-Broadway hit promises audiences is pure musical cheer—catchy songs and actors who can really belt it out. It's the storybook tale of two young people finding romance through their common love of music—but how romantic is it when the water gets shut off because neither of them have real jobs? OK, that's not in the play. But it should be.
