Rhys Darby

Rhys Darby, best known for his role as Murray Hewitt, band manager on the HBO series Flight of the Conchords, brings his standup to the Irvine Improv for a three-night special event. Darby originally held the role in 2004 on the BBC radio version of the show, where he played the same character. He spent 15 years as a standup comedian before making his film debut in Yes Man in 2008. This New Zealand native has gone on to appear in other films, such as Pirate Radio, Coming and Going and Lovebirds. His standup routine is often described as a “sensational blend of sound effects, characterizations and askew observations,” which can be seen in his latest standup DVD, This Way to Spaceship.
Fri., March 1, 8 & 10 p.m.; Sat., March 2, 7 & 9 p.m.; Sun., March 3, 7 p.m., 2013
