Primus

If you’ve never heard the phrase “Primus sucks,” allow us to formally educate you. Primus is the oft-bizarre prog-rock trio from the Bay Area who dazzled alt audiences in the ‘80s and ‘90s with songs about sturgeon fishing and big brown beavers. Earning the ironic fan chant “Primus sucks” with their wonky rhythms and arrangements, their eccentricity was rivaled only by their musical virtuosity. Best of all, rather than centering their ensemble around grungy guitars, Primus features bass wizard Les Claypool front and center. Their shows are funky, high energy, and weird. After a long hiatus and various side projects, the band is on the road again touring in support of its 2011 album Green Naugahyde. This concert features 3-D visuals and Quad Surround Sound. Enjoy some groovy sounds, right in your face.
