Pacific Playwrights Festival

Every year, South Coast Repertory invites playwrights (both up-and-coming and established veterans) to come together and, for one weekend, present sneak-peak readings (and even some full full-fledged stage shows) of their newest works. It's like fashion week for the theater world—and starting tonight, the 2014 Pacific Playwrights Festival kicks off its 17th run. This year's fest features four readings: Future Thinking by Eliza Clark, Of Good Stock by Melissa Ross, Mr. Wolf by Rajiv Joseph, and Zealot by Theresa Rebec. Full-staged performances (there are three!) include Five Mile Lake by Rachel Bonds, Rest by Samuel Hunter (which has been showing since last month), and The Purple Lights of Joppa Illinois by Adam Rapp. Past PPF presentations include the pulitzer-winning Rabbit Hole, so don't miss a chance to see what's next for theater. See website for schedule.
April 25-27, 6, 7 & 8 p.m., 2014
