Pacific Island Family Festival

If you prefer your Sunday afternoons filled with sounds of tribal drums and didgeridoos instead of the pretentious sniffs of snobby art critics, the Pacific Island Family Festival at Bowers might be your cheap alternative to the typical museum experience. Enjoy the thundering Tahitian drums and rhythmic dances performed by Nonosina, a Polynesian dance group based in Orange County for more than 40 years. LA Outback will represent the biggest island of all in an Australian-aboriginal didgeridoo performance, and through song and dance Kutturan Chamoru will instruct its audience in the traditions and legends of the people of the Mariannas, a civilization dating back 4,000 years. Going native never felt so educational.
