No Boundaries

When news and talk radio coverage of the election ramped up toward the end of summer, it felt like some of the anti-illegal immigrant fervor was blessedly dying down. While it’s certainly not true that everyone making a big stink about the influx of undocumented human beings into our country was racist, it did seem like many of the people arguing for stronger border controls had forgotten that we were a nation founded by “illegal” immigrants. The fact is, most people coming to America are coming to work and contribute to our society, despite what the talking heads would have you believe. The UCI Langson Library is currently presenting a photo exhibit examining the lives of those who have taken that giant leap, legally or not, and showing how they have contributed throughout history to the development of our region. We couldn’t have done it without them.
