Measure for Pleasure

Billed by the Garage Theatre as a “dirty whore of a play,” this 18th century farce is filled with “dildos, dames, trannies and tea,” and takes a satirical gallop through love, sex and hate—21st century mode. Written by David Grimm and directed by Eric Hamme, Measure for Pleasure producers suggest it’s the type of thing Moliere would have written if he were alive today, “and not busy humping a stage hand.” It’s the SoCal premiere of the play, and proof that this indie theatre—which won a couple of awards from the OC and District weeklies last year— is, as they put it, never above a cheap laugh or a cheap beer. Sounds like Heaven for those who prefer a more Dante-esque version of it. Count us in.
